Here is a painting of a big bird that some people think could be a ‘Genyornis newtoni’. Bones of this animal have been found in a few rock shelters around the country together with objects that people used. In several places, such as in the Warratyi rock shelter in South Australia, burnt eggshells of giant birds have been found near hearths. It seems people used to cook the eggs of giant birds on the fire, the same way we still cook eggs of other animals on the fire to this day.
